4th of July

This year, we joined the Collins family for Plano's Independence Day Parade. Eli was so excited to be spending the morning with his very best friend Carson for such a fun event! We arrived just in time to some reserved seating (thanks to Carson's dad) under a nice shady tree.

The parade was a huge hit! Isaiah enjoyed waving his flag and people watching, while the older kids were preoccupied with gathering the free candy passing by. After the parade, we spent a couple more hours playing at Carson's house, which is always a delight for Eli. It made for a great start to our big day...

Later that afternoon (in 103 degree weather), I convinced Jerry to go with us to check out the neighborhood block party. Luckily, there was a shade set up with some misters spraying, so we hung out in there while Eli playing in a water-bounce house. After an hour or so, we headed home for some relief from the heat. That night, Jerry worked the Friso Freedom Fest, and the boys and I went to Little Elm's July Jubilee.

After 2 jump houses, a blue snow cone (which Eli dropped half-way through), 2 glow bracelets, and some nachos, we ready for the fireworks. The boys were not quite as excited this time--since they had just seen fireworks the weekend before--but it was still a good show. Our night concluded with a sweaty shuttle ride back to our van where we were most thankful for the A/C on our drive home. Overall, it was a FUN-filled day and I look forward to next year!

I love that you went to Plano for the 4th of July. That is where my brother was born and where I attended Kindergarten. My mom was worried I would pick up a Southern accent, since my teacher had such a twang, but it didn't stick...I still have my midwestern nasal accent from both my parents, despite growing up in Southern California!

You look like you are raising a couple of strapping, handsome young men!
